DVD Locker Insider - Latest movie news and updates

Fanboys (2009) is my go to movie to watch and guaranteed to make me smile . It’s definitely one of my feel good movie favourites. It’s a definite must watch for Star Wars fans and keep your eyes peeled for the cameos . So the story is based on a group of hard core fans of Star Wars and their raid on sky Walker ranch . I love the references to Star Trek too and being a fan of both , it certainly made me giggle , it’s a movie that pokes fun at fandom in a kind way and anyone whose dabbled in the convention scene will have definitely met characters like this 😁 I loved Dan Fogler aka Hutch… his character was a hoot , made me laugh … in fact all the actors/ characters were wonderful .
I’m not going to give away the story lines … just take my word for it …. it’s definitely worth a watch , there’s a nerd in every one of us…

Well hello readers, welcome to DVD Locker Insider! We write about Movie reviews so you can have an insight to some of the latest, greatest (and of course not so great) Movies.

We are reviewing the Movie ‘Crawl’ directed by Alexandre Aja, an american horror / disaster movie.

Small Snippet: This Movie follows the story of a daughter (Hayley)  and father (Dave) and their 4 legged friend their dog, they are trapped and hunted by alligators during a category 5 hurricane, so as the house is flooding more and more both Hayley and Dave need to fight for their lives to get out! Can they escape without being eaten? This Movie does start off pretty much straight away and before you know it you are engrossed in with the action. This Movie contains, scenes of action, flashing images and minor gore and bloody scenes. The movie has a run-time of: 87 minutes.

The Storyline: Confident swimmer Hayley played by Kaya Scodelario drives directly into the heart of a category 5 destructive hurricane taking a detour from her hometown in Florida, to check on her distant Father, Dave played by Barry Pepper as shes frantically looking around the house for Dave, she finds clues that he is in the house somewhere or other. Once Hayley finds Dave thanks to the dog, both of them come face to face with.. Alligators swimming and walking around. The house is slowly sinking and filling up with water as the water levels are rising, its only a matter of time to get out without being eaten alive!?

Our Views: This Movie on the whole was fairly enjoyable, and quite fast paced right from the opening scene, there is a good narrative within too which is a plus. The effects was really good and very much looked real. However I found in certain scenes the Movie did seem a little slow, with that aside the Movie on the while was a good watch and did provide some nice evening entertainment, the Movie is not exactly scary but does provide a good action based fit. On the positive side you have a few scenes where you can really get through your popcorn without jumping and dropping it everywhere. Based on a very simple narrative this Movie is very easy to understand right from the offset. At times you will find yourself shouting at the TV to try and stop the characters onscreen making the wrong choices.

Final Thoughts: I would say this Movie is great for evening entertainment for most people, especially if you like natural disaster Movies and of course dangerous Alligators. The narrative is clear and simple to understand so you won’t feel ‘lost’ or ‘confused’ which is refreshing for some viewers. I really like the effects as it all does seem very real so the CGI used within was quite frankly amazing! If you are into your action Movies and love great effects and a real strong and easy to understand story-line then this Movie is for you!

As you know we are fanatics about Film here! We Simply LOVE films as this is our Core-business, and so when where out of office, we are watching the newest and some old films, well last night myself and partner was flicking through the Sky Movies Demand service, and came across a film called K-Shop the picture looked pretty cool, so thought why not give it a whirl..

Well its quite a long film, (120mins) to be precise, so 2 hours like a Lord Of The Rings Sequel!

Seeing that it was pure British, we though’t we would venture in and watch it, basically the film is about A horror film with a message. This is not going to be for everyone but it’s the modern version of the Sweeney Todd and not to mention British story except that Sweeney is an immigrant that faces drunk people in his kebab shop he opens with his father. When some drunk are trying to enter the shop and the father got killed Salah goes Mental, and wants to seek revenge for the death of his father But there’s more going on.

The film starts off very well normal big city Saturday night drunkenness, then there are some parts of the film where they do drag out (just a little), the story isn’t bad though, the fact that there’s a Kebab shop who serve up more than Kebab meat is definitely something to watch, the first scene did look like we was watching SAW.

The characters are very believable in this too – which is always a good point.

To Sum it up: This film is definitely worthy of a watch, we did enjoy it just seemed to go on and on and on (you get the drift), but if your looking for alternative horror then this film is probably for you. Least now we can say we have watched it, and hence the review so we can tell our Avid Readers what we thought of it.

So it’s that time again, film time, we don’t open on Sundays so today was our closest day to blog about it, but as always myself and partner sat down to our daily evening film and we decided to watch; The Good Neighbour – Now normally this really isn’t my cup of tea at all because I cannot stand Camcorder films not sure why but they just make things look a little low budget (apart from Cloverfield which I LOVED) and a little amateur!

Anyway for some reason this film did catch my eye, so I thought lets give it a shot..

So here is my personal review on ‘The Good Neighbour’

So basically the film is about – The Good Neighbour has both drama and suspense as standard the film is a crime-thriller. It reminded me a bit of “I Am Not a Serial Killer”, it is written and filmed in an extraordinarily sophisticated  style and will exceed most viewers initial expectations, as i stated earlier EVEN for me as I normally don’t do camcorder films!

There are teen friends, one whom has wealth and technical expertise at his disposal and his eyes on MIT, and his friend who has plenty of ingenuity and fortitude and interest in social research but is from a “broken home”. The pair undertake a social-psychological experiment, and use the grouchy, solitary old grump of the neighborhood as their unwitting subject. For their experiment, they equip the old grumps home with numerous hidden cameras and electrical devices in order to manipulate the grumps home appliances, fixtures, gadgets and such. They are then able to remotely control and view everything that occurs, pretty technical right!?

They soon realize that the old man is a rather unusual subject. He has a basement securely locked from the outside, a mysterious visiting woman, no apparent fear towards the extreme tactics they make to convince him he’s haunted, and he’s unpredictability violent and destructive. One teen begins to regret conducting the experiment, the other one is determined that the old man is hiding a dark secret, personally I thought he was either torturing someone or keeping them held hostage.. The teens watch, record and attempt to manipulate the old man for weeks in hopes of revenge, online views, and uncovering the old mans secrets.

Throughout the film there are segments where a prosecutor speaks to and interrogates different people on the witness stand. This makes it clear that the “experiment” didn’t play out so well. This film had me hypothesizing and thoroughly engaged, the whole film kept my mind guessing what was the actual plot and drama of it, as it was unclear, as it kept going back to a court case, so we knew someone was in trouble but for what ?

This film is well worth a watch, I personally loved it! It was very cleverly written and performed, and the fact it was a camcorder film well that just wins it for me. Maybe watch this one, its starts pretty much straight away and has a simple storyline to follow, you can also relate to the characters of the movie (always good)

So we didn’t go to the cinema yesterday afterall to see Resident Evil, simply because (after a long day of work here at DVDLocker) we had a little shall we say cat nap? And in turn missed the viewing (oops), anyway when we woke up we watched Run All Night – see our indepth review below but we thought this would be a good choice simply because both myself and partner LOVE the Taken saga’s, and of course the famous Liam Neeson stars in this film so we did have rather high hopes, just no sign of Kim!

Liam Neeson plays retired hit-man, James Conlon, and it’s one of the finest roles he’s played in years with a great performance, and with additional superb acting from Joel Kinnaman, whom plays his son, Mike Conlon. The first ‘Taken’ may have turned out great, until it launched a franchise, but ‘Run All Night’ is a definite improvement over Neeson’s latest work, and a major improvement over clichéd action movies released in the past decade. What makes it so good, is that Neeson brings company with him: his co-star Kinnaman who plays his son – and it’s a different movie experience altogether as in most clichéd action thrillers the main protagonist, usually played by a familiar action star, is usually without company the whole way through. The character James Conlon is so similar to Jimmy Bobo, a part Sylvester Stallone played in a movie called ‘Bullet to the Head’. Jimmy Bobo was an ageing hit-man who still made hits on assignments, but compared to Conlon, he’s more emotionless and merciless. Neeson’s Conlon still had good in his heart somewhere, whereas Bobo cared more about killing and seeking vengeance. However, the action sequences are enjoyable and thrilling, acting is great and the direction and screen writing becomes intriguing whenever the main plot kicks in – so Run All Night has what it takes of being one of the most exciting movies of the year (well back then) We love trying out some old, new and everything in between here, this is also what we offer our customers at www.dvdlocker.co.uk This film is sure to be a hit for your evening entertainment, I would have to say Action at one of its best!! Well done – great movie!
